—Centenary men’s basketball coach Kevin Johnson has announced the signing of Jason Underwood to a National Letter of Intent. Underwood is the first prospect for the 2005-06 recruiting class to sign with the Gents.

“Jason will be a welcomed addition to our team,” said Johnson. “He will give us some size, skill, and diversity at the power forward position.”

Underwood (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) will come to Centenary from St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, Mich., where he was named the Co-MVP of the Skippers last season. He averaged 14.2 ppg and 9.1 rebounds while being named to the Michigan Community College Athletic Association All-Conference Team.

“Jason is a great young man who, athletically, can score inside due to his size and strength,” boasts St. Clair County Community College head coach Dale Vos.

Centenary is a Division I member of the NCAA and the Mid-Continent Conference. Founded in 1825, Centenary is the oldest college west of the Mississippi River and with an enrollment of 880, it is the smallest Division I school in the nation.
