2004 Mid-Con Softball Champions

SHREVEPORT- With the success of last year’s clinic, the 2005 Centenary Softball Team will host their second annual winter clinic for ages 8-18, on January 8th at the Centenary Softball Complex. The daylong clinic will cover the fundamental skills of hitting, pitching and catching, and fielding from a coaching staff of Division I coaches and players from the defending 2004 Mid-Continent Conference championship team.

The clinic will be broken down into three sessions: pitching and catching (9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.), hitting (12 p.m.-2 p.m.), and defensive skills (3 p.m.-5:30 p.m.). These three separate sessions will provide individual instruction focusing on the essentials of the game.

The catching session will be led by Georgetown College assistant coach Valdez Floyd, who was instrumental in forming the first fast pitch league in Lexington, Kentucky. His decorated softball coaching career also includes coaching All-State and All-Conference players at Georgetown College and Lafayette High School, as well as specializing in catching instruction at the Player Edge Baseball and Softball Academy.

The cost is $40 for each individual session, or $100 for all three sessions.

Players may register as late as the first day of camp and should have their own athletic shoes, glove, and bat. Catchers should bring their own equipment as well.

For more information or registration forms, contact Assistant Coach Alison McNulty at 318-841-7230.
