ELMHURST, Ill.—Centenary men’s basketball player Chad Maclies has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Co-Player of the Week after leading the Gents to back-to-back wins over Arkansas Baptist and Louisiana-Monroe. For the week, Maclies averaged 23.5 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, and two steals per game to extend Centenary’s Gold Dome winning streak to 20 games. Dan Oppland of Valparaiso also earned the Mid-Con honor after averaging 22.5 ppg and 10.0 rpg while helping the Crusaders to a 1-1 mark over the last seven days.

Maclies, a senior forward from Kingwood, Texas, scored a career-high 24 points in the Gents 90-71 victory over Arkansas Baptist on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. He also accounted for six rebounds and two steals. Maclies followed that performance with 23 points on 5-of-9 from the field and 13-of-14 from the charity stripe in an 84-82 overtime victory against in-state rival Louisiana-Monroe. He added eight boards and two more steals in that contest, including a steal with under 20 seconds remaining that sealed the win.

Maclies averaged 5.8 ppg and 5.3 rpg for his career before exploding this season. On the year, he is leading the Gents at 19.6 ppg and 8.3 rpg. He is at the top of the Mid-Con leaders in both points and rebounds per game and has collected five consecutive 20-point games.
