Ladies Gymnastics Falls to #16 Auburn in Season-Opener

AUBURN, AL. – The Ladies gymnastics team opened their 2005 campaign with a loss to Auburn on Friday evening at the Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, 195.325-187.650. Centenary was led by veterans Kristina Menne and Sarah Racioppi who captured second place finishes in the all-around and floor exercise respectively.

The Ladies opened the meet on the uneven bars scoring a 47.325, led by fourth place finisher Menne with a 9.75 performance. Rookie Niki Bynum also had a solid performance at her first collegiate meet, earning Centenary’s second best score of 9.65.

The floor exercise was the Ladies best event of the night with three gymnasts scoring 9.75 or higher, led by Racioppi’s 9.850 that was tied with Tiger’s Rachael Tarantino for second place. Freshman Meredith Smith and Menne contributed to the Ladies final floor score of 48.275.

The Ladies travel to Columbia to face #22 Missouri in the inaugural Pink Out meet in the Hearnes Center on Fri., Jan. 21. The meet will begin at 7 p.m.
