ELMHURST, Ill.- The Centenary baseball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Mid-Continent Preseason Poll, as voted by the coaches of participating schools.  The Gents finished third in the Mid-Con last season and anticipate a repeat appearance in the conference tournament.

Returning for the Gents is senior David Kiefer, who will make the transition from third to short this season.  Kiefer was named to the Mid-Con All-Tournament Team after hitting .500 with a homerun in two postseason games at Shehee Stadium.  Other returning starters include juniors A.J. Howes and Alex Valdavia and sophomores Will Kaage and Jared Vincent.

Oral Roberts was picked to repeat as Mid-Con champs, receiving six first place votes and 36 points overall.  The Golden Eagles are ranked #24 nationally by Baseball America and only lost a single conference game last season.  Western Illinois received the only other first place vote, finishing second with 27 overall points.  Southern Utah is third (25 pts.), just ahead of the Gents (22 pts.).  Rounding out the poll is Oakland (17 pts.), Valparaiso (13 pts.), and Chicago State (7 pts.).
