NATCHITOCHES, La – Northwestern State handed the Centenary baseball team their third shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory in Natchitoches on Tuesday evening.  The Gents were unable to keep up with the Demons in the fast paced contest, falling for the second time this year.

Host Northwestern State (32-14) put the go ahead and eventual winning runs on the board in the third inning.  Brandon Morgan’s two RBI double plated the Demons first runs off of Centenary  (17-19) starter Jonathan Christian (1-5).  Christian went three innings, giving up two runs on three hits.

Sophomore Brandon Fulenchek picked up the action in the fourth, throwing four innings of long relief for the Gents.  The southpaw didn’t allow a hit or a run while on the mound, extending Centenary’s chances into the eighth.

The Demons struck again in the eighth, scoring on a fielders choice after consecutive singles off of reliever Chad Harper.

Jonathan Colgin paced the Gents with a pair of hits, including an eighth inning double to right field.  David Kiefer added a ninth innings single for Centenary’s only hits of the game.
