ELMHURST, Ill.- Once again, Centenary’s tennis star Anja Schmidt was named Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year after a perfect 17-0 spring season at the top slot as she dominated league opponents posting a 8-0 conference record. She finished the season with a team-best 25-3 singles mark, including a 13-8 dual record. Schmidt etched her name in the Mid-Con history books as the fifth player to earn the award twice and the fourth to be awarded in consecutive seasons. She also joined six league players on the All-Conference First Team.

For the second year in a row, Schmidt led the conference in singles victories while teaming with doubles partner Heather Kelley marking the third-most double victories (13) in the league.

Her consistency on the court has also placed her in the Maroon and White history books. Her sophomore record of 23-2 resulted in a .920 winning percentage, which is the best single season effort of all-time. She also holds the highest career winning percentage of .864.

The 5’7'' junior from Gilforn, Germany, will finish her three-year career at Centenary ranking second in all-time singles wins with 25 single-season victories in 2004-05, right behind Jasmina Tonejc’s 1988-89 record of 26.

She received Mid-Con Player of the Week nine times during her collegiate career and was the co-winner of the Mid-Con Scholar Athlete Award for the 2003-04 season.
