TULSA, Okla – The Centenary baseball team dropped their second consecutive doubleheader to Oral Roberts, falling 7-1 and 2-1.  The Golden Eagles became the first Mid-Continent Conference team to sweep the Gents this season.

ORU took control of the first game, outscoring Centenary 6-1 after three innings.  The Golden Eagles allowed just four hits, two of them to junior Tim Ryan, including the Gents’ lone RBI single in the third.

Rene Recio threw four innings for the no decision while Dane Towery(3-2) tossed an additional five for the victory.

Jonathan Christian (2-6) picked up the loss for the Gents (19-25, 6-10 Mid-Con), giving up six runs on nine hits in two and third innings of work.  Brandon Fulenchek finished the game for Centenary, giving up just one run in five and a third innings.

The second match up was a closer affair as the Gents took their first lead of the series with a fourth inning RBI double by Chris Wilson to score senior shortstop David Kiefer.  ORU (30-16, 15-1 Mid-Con) answered right back with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning, and put the game-winning run on the board in the fifth.

Daniel Greenwalt (5-1) secured the win for the Golden Eagles with 2.1 innings of one-hit ball.

The Gents’ Will Kaage (5-3) pitched a solid game, going the distance and giving up just two runs on six hits, but suffered the defeat.

Centenary returns home for their final series at Shehee Stadium as they face Chicago State for a four-game stretch.  Seniors Kiefer and J.C. Biagi will be recognized for their contributions to the program that weekend.
