SMU Mustangs Blank Gents in Tennis Matinee

DALLAS, Tex. – The SMU Mustangs had their second shutout of the early 05’ season beating the Gents 7-0 on Monday afternoon at the Haager Stadium. In their first jaunt of the spring season, The Gents were able to snatch nine games throughout the dual match, en route to the loss.

Junior Brain Roberts turned in a solid performance losing a difficult match to Paul McNaughton in 6-4, 6-2. Roberts teamed up with sophomore Josh Pinto in doubles taking on McNaughton and Federico Murgier. The Centenary duo took a set from SMU’s No. 1 doubles pairing before dropping the match 8-1.

Seizing singles wins in straight sets for SMU were Gwinyai Chingoka, who defeated Russ Patrick, 6-0, 6-0, Federico Murgier and Peter Oredsson.

The Gents will travel to Baton Rouge next weekend, Jan. 29, to challenge #12 LSU, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
