LSU Tigers Tame Ladies Tennis 7-0

BATON ROUGE, LA. – The Centenary Ladies were unable to post a win against in-state foe #23 LSU in their first dual-match of the 2005 spring season. The defending Southeastern Conference Western Division champs swept the doubles pairings, leading to the 7-0 triumph over the Ladies on Saturday morning at the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.

 

LSU pushed its all-time record over the Ladies to 17-0 with shutout performances by No. 1 singles Amanda Mang over Heather Kelley and in No. 3 singles Staten Spencer over Ashlee Mantooth.

 

Mantooth paired off with Christine Majchrowicz in No. 2 doubles falling 8-1, followed by Anja Schmidt and Kelley’s loss to LSU’s Lauren Seaman and Tiffany Tucker in No. 1 doubles. Schmidt was unable to continue after her doubles contest, finishing with a 2-1 career record against LSU.


Centenary’s Versh Sharma was able win a set over Anastasiya Dubova 6-1, but could not pick up another set win, losing the following 6-0.

 

The Ladies will bring the action home on Feb. 5th, hosting Sam Houston State. The competition will begin at 11:00 a.m.
