ELMHURST, ILL. - Centenary swimmer Robert Trempski was named Mid-Continent Conference Male Swimmer of the Week after his outstanding performance against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. With his strong dolphin kick and powerful pull, the 6’6 sophomore dominated opponents in the backstroke events, winning top honors in the 100 and 200 and captured third in the 200 individual medley.

Trempski burst off his third turn in the 200 back, turning at the halfway point in 57.78, pulling even further ahead of the field. He continued at a blazing pace to power home, finishing a body length ahead of his nearest competitor at 1:59.31.  His 100 back swim was equally impressive as he spilt 26.91 on his way to his final time of 55.32.

Participating in his third individual event of the night, Trempski was edged out at the wall in the 200 IM, finishing behind ULM swimmer Julien Amlieach (2:04.43) in third place with 2:04.68.

The Poland native is Centenary’s top backstroker and holds the second-best Mid-Con marks this season in the 100 (52.72) and 200 (1:52.52) backstroke.

Centenary will host their third and final home meet of the season on Saturday against OBU and UALR.  The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Centenary Fitness Center.
