Former Gent Cassidy Signs with Astros

SHREVEPORT – Former Centenary pitcher Kevin Cassidy has signed a free agent contract with the Houston Astros.  The Gents’ career leader in strikeouts will become the fifth player to play professionally during the tenure of head coach Ed McCann.


            Selected first team All-Independent in 2003, Cassidy (Paso Robles, Ca.) concluded his collegiate career as Centenary’s all-time leader in strikeouts (218) and innings pitched (295.1) while finishing third in career wins (18) and tied for sixth in career saves (3).


            Cassidy will likely report to the Tri-City ValleyCats of the New York-Penn League (A).
