Friday, February 18, 2005

LORMAN, Miss.- With a delayed start and sunlight fading, the Gents dropped their sixth match, 5-1 on the road to Alcorn State on Wednesday at the Willie Mae Latham Taylor Park.  Josh Pinto continued his stellar play, pushing through the tiebreaker to earn his second third set win of the season.

Due to a late start, the Gents began the match with singles play.

The Braves came out strong winning the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, before Pinto took the tiebreaker in the third position, beating ASU’s Marcos Hernandez. Pinto won the first set, 6-3, but Hernandez came back to win the second 6-4.  In the third set, Pinto blazed past his opposition, defeating the ASU sophomore, 10-5, to earn Centenary’s lone win.

The Gents (0-6) will next host Lamar on Feb. 18th at the Southern Hills tennis courts. The dual match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
