Ladies Continue to Cruise, Down TWU and Air Force

DENTON, Tex.—The Centenary Ladies gymnastics team continues to improve and climb its way up the USA Gymnastics rankings as the squad posted an impressive 194.300 on Saturday evening. The total was easily enough to defeat USAG foes Texas Woman’s University (191.125) and Air Force (189.650), but came up short of Big Ten member Illinois who took the meet title with a 195.750.


The Ladies blew the competition away on the floor exercise as they posted a team effort 49.225, crushing the nearest opponent, Illinois, by half a point (48.725). Each Centenary gymnast scored a 9.800 or better on the event which was won by Sarah Racioppi who scored a 9.900. The Ladies had the top three showings on the floor as Kristina Menne garnered second place with a 9.875 and Sarah Ball and Laura Wright each posted a 9.825 to tie for third place honors.


Menne claimed the all-around title on the evening as she finished with a 39.125, which included a 9.875, second place performance on the uneven bars. Sarah Ball continues to flourish in her all-around role for the Ladies as she placed second behind Menne with a total of 38.725. Tara Mitchell rounded out the individual finishers for Centenary with a third place finish on the beam with a score of 9.800.
