MACOMB, Ill.—The Centenary Gents dropped their final road game of the 2004-05 campaign to Western Illinois on Saturday evening, 66-55. The Leathernecks shot 60 percent from the field, converting on 21-of-35 shot attempts while attempting 32 free throws compared to just 10 for the visiting Gents. Western Illinois grabbed 11 steals in the win and forced Centenary into committing 16 turnovers.

 

Centenary (3-23, 1-14) continued its shooting troubles from the field as the Gents shot just 37.3 percent (19-of-51) in the contest. They launched 27 three-point attempts, but did not fare any better from long distance, as the Gents made only 10 trifectas for 37 percent.

 

Western Illinois (10-16, 6-9) worked for high percentage shots led by the inside play of Eulis Baez. Baez finished with 19 points while Troy Okeson contributed 13 points to the victory. Seven different Leathernecks came away with at least one steal on the night.

 

Chad Maclies turned in another outstanding performance for Centenary as he scored a game-high 20 points and recorded his seventh double double on the season by hauling in 11 boards. Clarke Jackson sank three long range shots to finish with a career-high 11 points.
