ELMHURST, Ill. – Centenary softball’s Janis Kelley and Jessica Ivins swept the Mid-Continent Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week awards after their outstanding performances during Saturday’s at home victories over Prairie View A&M.

Kelley picks up her third Player of the Week award after reaching on every at-bat and insuring the second Maroon and White shutout of the season. She pitched a perfect fifth wrapping up the Ladies 10-0 win.

The senior designated hitter collected three hits in four at-bats, including an explosive two-run double and a powerful three-run dinger to earn five of Centenary’s 11 RBI.

Kelley has been a source of power at the plate this season and leads the team with 11 RBI and is tied for the lead in team doubles and homeruns.

Ivins was an equally impressive force on the mound in Saturday’s opener. She was overpowering in the first three innings, holding the Panthers scoreless. The right-handed rookie finished the game fanning five batters and allowing two runs off six hits, earning the complete-game victory.

She is currently 3-2 with an ERA of 2.52 through 41.2 innings pitched. This is the Houston native’s first Mid-Con award.

Centenary will look to continue their three-game winning streak on the road, traveling to Lubbock, Texas to participate in the Red Raider Classic this weekend. The Ladies will face host school Texas Tech, A&M Corpus Christi, California Riverside, and New Mexico during the three-day tournament. The Ladies will jump start tournament play, facing the Lobos on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
