SHREVEPORT – Lamar University had two players competing in a three-way playoff but it wasn’t enough as Oral Roberts edged past them by two strokes to win the 5th Annual Centenary Ladies Spring Invitational at the Shreveport Country Club.  The two teams shot identical 317’s on the second day of action, leaving the Golden Eagles first round best 313 the deciding factor.

Casey Cain claimed the individual title by defeating fellow teammate Christa Gunn and ORU’s Candice Satow in a playoff.  After shooting 154’s in the two-round event, each golfer parred the initial sudden death hole, forcing another go-round on the par four 18th.  Cain laid a beautiful approach shot three feet from the pin that led to a match-winning birdie.

The Ladies’ Chloe’ Mims paced the host school with 168, shooting a pair of 84’s for the tournament to finish tied for 23rd.  Seniors Repsie Schirmer (38th) and Andrea Sanchez (t-39th) finished with 178 and 181 respectively, both shooting in the 80’s during Monday’s play.  Lauren Mills shot a 276 in her first action of the year with Centenary after spending the fall with the soccer team.  The junior shaved 12 strokes off her first day score, showing signs she can shake off the rust from not having played full time all season.

Texas State finished third in the Invitational after posting a tournament-best 311 in the second round.  The Bobcat’s Danielle Mask shot the best round of the event with a 75 on Tuesday.

Rounding out the finishers were Northeastern State (663), Nicholls State (665), Western Illinois (697), IUPUI (706), Rhodes (757), Tennessee State (765), Mobile (769), and Centenary (803).
