LUBBOCK, Tex. – Lauren Flowers’ four-bagger in the top of the first set the stage during Sunday morning’s Mutual of Omaha Red Raider Classic make-up game against California-Riverside. Flowers registered three of the Ladies’ six RBI, while Jessica Ivins earned her fifth victory of the season on the mound as the Ladies overpowered the Highlanders 6-1 at the Rocky Johnson Field.

The Ladies wasted no time during their final contest of the Omaha Red Raider Classic, notching runs in their first two rotations. Following her solo shot over the left field fence, Flowers banged out her second RBI double of the year, scoring Amy Wiedeman in the top of the second, creating a two-run advantage.

CA Riverside (3-16) posted their lone run in the next at-bat when Jennifer Thompson singled up the middle scoring Melissa Sanchez. With one down, Ivins relieved Kristan Morton in the pitching circle. With the tying runs on first and second, the freshman righty established her dominance striking out consecutive batters to end the opposing threat.

Janis Kelley continued the Ladies’ offensive attack in the sixth homering to left center followed by back-to-back RBI doubles by Lindsay Jones’ and Wiedeman.

The Ladies’ five run lead held strong as Kelley came in to close in the sixth, giving up a hit and striking out one.

Ivins worked 4.1 innings, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out five.

The Ladies (8-9) host Arkansas Pine Bluff on Tuesday at the Centenary Softball Complex. The first pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
