Gents Tennis Stomps LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Tex.- By sweeping the doubles pairings and racking up three individual wins, the Gents nabbed their first dual-match win of the spring season over LeTourneau at the University Tennis Courts. Centenary used their depth and veteran talent to walk away with the 4-3 victory on Saturday afternoon.


The Gents had little trouble in doubles action as Russ Patrick and Arthur Okura downed the Yellow Jackets No. 1 duo, 8-4. Brain Roberts and newcomer Cody Andrews mirrored that performance as 8-4 winners in the No. 2 spot.


In singles play, Roberts kept up the pressure throughout the tightest match of the matinee, defeating Hunter Cippele in the top slot, 6-3, 6-3.


Patrick was also victorious in second singles, overpowering Jeremy Martinez 6-0, 6-3 while Okura notched his fifth season win dominating Zac Dodson in two easy sets, 6-1, 6-0.


The Gents look for another victory when the take on Alcorn State at home on March 25th at the Southern Hills Tennis Complex.  Doubles will begin at 1:00 p.m.
