Gents Finish Tenth At Bearkat Classic

HUNTSVILLE, Tex – The Centenary men’s golf team finished tenth at the Sam Houston State Bearkat Classic, shooting a 922 in the three round event.  The Gents shot 303, 308, and 311 to finish in a logjam of six teams scoring within seven strokes of each other.

 

Brett Kaufman finished tied for 11th with 223, the best finish for Centenary.  He shot a low round of 71 for the Gents in the first frame.

 

Mackey Miles’ 229 tied him for 34th, John Kizer ended up tied for 44th with 231, and Brian Grone finished tied for 67th with 241.  David Viviano was disqualified in the third round, throwing out his score after shooting 78 and 80 in the first two rounds.

 

McNeese State won the tourney with 875, followed by Stephen F. Austin with 885 and host Sam Houston State with 889.  Fourth was Southern Illinois with 892, followed closely by William & Mary (896), Texas State (902), Oral Roberts (904), and Tennessee State (908).  Battling for the middle spots were Boston College (921), Centenary (922), Nicholls State (924), George Washington (925), Sam Houston State –White (926), and UMKC (933).  Rounding out the competition was Boston College – Gold (992) and Prairie View A&M (1125).
