LONGVIEW, Tex.- The Centenary women’s tennis team came close to sweeping LeTourneau at the University Courts on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Jackets earned their lone point when Centenary was forced to default court #5 in singles because of a shortened roster. The 6-1 triumph marked the first win of the 2005 season.

The match started well for Centenary as they quickly swept doubles, with Anja Schmidt and Heather Kelley leading off with an 8-0 win over LETU's Sarah Carroll and Jamie Bastian.  Fellow Ladies pairing of sibling duo Christine Majchrowicz and Jennifer Majchrowicz followed suit, winning 8-0 in the second doubles spot.

Schmidt posted her 15th season win in the top spot, sweeping Sarah Carroll in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

Kelley and C. Majchrowicz also reregistered straightforward victories in singles action.  Kelley notched a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 slot over LETU’s Jaime Bastian while C. Majchrowicz pounded Katy Harclerode 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.

Freshman J. Majchrowicz earned another Centenary point with a 6-1, 6-1 conquest in the fourth slot.

The Ladies return to the courts on March 22 to battle Louisiana Tech at home at 1:00 p.m.
