NACOGDOCHES, La. – Stephen F. Austin recently announced the hiring of former Centenary Gents soccer standout Jamie Frias as the new 2005 women's soccer head coach.  Frias replaces Nicole Nelson, who became an assistant coach at Baylor.

Frias has been with the SFA soccer program for the past three years. As an assistant coach in 2003, he guided the Ladyjacks to their first Southland Conference tournament title and received their first postseason bid to the NCAA Championships.

The Katy, Texas native served as an assistant coach for the Centenary Ladies for two seasons while studying for his masters degree.

Before joining the Ladies coaching staff, Frias coached the SFC U-16 select team and was also the head coach of the Booker T. Washington varsity team and the Caddo Magnet junior varsity team in Shreveport.

A 2000 graduate from Centenary College, Frias was a captain as a junior and a senior and started all four year for the Gents.
