NCAA #1 LSU Downs USAG #1 Ladies in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La.--The top-ranked team in the NCAA in the LSU Tigers easily dismissed the #1 Centenary Ladies of the USAG division on Friday by a 196.900 to 190.375 score. LSU's April Burkholder powered the Tigers to the victory with her 39.600, first place showing in the all-around.

Burkholder, one of the nation's top gymnasts, also turned in the top marks on the vault (9.950), balance beam (9.900), and on the floor exercise (9.925). Lisa Rennie claimed the win on the uneven bars with a score of 9.900 for LSU.

Centenary's Kristina Menne finished in third place in the all-around and the floor exercise with a total effort of 38.650 and a 9.875 on the floor. Sarah Ball's 37.775 was good enough for fourth in the all-around while her 9.675 on the beam led her to a fifth place showing. Sarah Racioppi also took fifth place on the floor with a routine that earned a 9.825.

The Ladies will return to action next Friday when they compete in the Midwest Independent Championships hosted by Texas Woman's University in their final tune-up before the USAG National Championships in mid-April.
