Fifth Ranked Razorbacks Run Wild on Gents 14-1

SHREVEPORT –  The Centenary team surrendered nine runs on 10 hits in the first inning as visiting Arkansas handed the gents their second straight double-digit loss 14-1.  The Razorbacks collected 25 hits on the day and held the Gents scoreless until the eighth inning.


Craig Gentry went 5-for-5 for the Razorbacks (20-2) and was one of seven Arkansas players with multiple hits.  Three others slapped three hits while another three recorded a pair.


Chad Harper (0-2) picked up the loss, giving up 13 runs in five innings of work.  The junior southpaw struck out two.


Junior Alex Valdivia led the Gents (8-13) with a pair of hits and the team’s only RBI.  Pinch hitter Jared Vincent laced a single to right field, followed by a hit batsman by Cam Feightner in the next at bat.  With two on, Valdivia knocked a two-out single through the right side to bring home Vincent.


Arkansas started the game off by successfully putting 12 of the first 13 batters on base, 11 of them with hits.  The Razorbacks outscored the Gents 13-1 in the first innings combined of the two game series.  They also tallied three runs in the fifth and scored single runs in the fourth and seventh.


The Gents host Mississippi Valley State for a three game series this weekend, starting with a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m.  Saturdays game is set for 12 noon.
