Ladies Place Third at MIC's

DENTON, Tex.—The Centenary Ladies gymnastics team took third place at the Midwest Independent Championships on Friday night. The Ladies recorded a 194.100 while Illinois-Chicago posted a 194.200 for the win. Texas Woman’s University locked up second place with a final score of 194.125.


Kristina Menne and Sarah Racioppi earned All-Conference accolades by finishing in the top three on their respective events. Menne was given the honor after finishing in first place in the all-around (39.100) and on the floor (9.900) in addition to placing third on the uneven bars (9.750). Racioppi tied with Menne for the top spot on the floor (9.900) while ranking third on the balance beam (9.900).


The Ladies tallied the highest team scores on both the balance beam with a 48.900 and the floor exercise with a total of 48.925. Racioppi’s 9.900 on the beam led the way on the event, but Tara Mitchell (9.850), Jessie Angus (9.800) and Kristina Menne (9.800) all turned in exceptional performances. Sarah Ball notched Centenary’s top score on the vault with a 9.675.


Centenary will take a few weeks off in order to prepare to defend their 2004 USAG National Championship. This year’s event will take place in Ithaca, New York, hosted by Cornell University and runs from April 14th through April 16th.
