SHREVEPORT- The Centenary Ladies showcased their torrid hitting ability for the second consecutive day by completing the four game sweep of conference rival Valparaiso at the Centenary Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon. The Ladies took the first game 7-2 and won the second in dramatic fashion with a three run game-winning homer in the sixth. In the opener, The Ladies bats exploded as Janis Kelley’s RBI double scored a sprinting Jennifer Mango followed by Dana Davis’ three-run dinger in the bottom of the first, lifting the Ladies to a 4-0 advantage.

Crusaders’ Megan Carroll was also able to knock one over the fence in the third to chip away at the lead.

Centenary received more run support in the sixth when Micah Rhodes, Lindsey Jones, and Lory Kowaleski blasted RBI doubles, scoring three runs.

In Valparaiso’s final at-bat, Carroll continued to hit the ball, doubling and advancing to third off a Centenary error. With a runner in scoring position, Jessica Ivins (10-6) retired the last two batters to earn her tenth win of the season.

In the nightcap, Mango’s RBI single broke open a tight 1-1-game in the bottom of the fifth. The Ladies continued to plate runners accumulating three runs off four hits to pull further ahead, 4-1.
