ELMHURST, Ill.- Centenary softball player Jessica Ivins has been named Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher of the Week after picking up three victories on the mound last weekend. The weekly honor is the third in Ivins’ young collegiate career as she leads the Mid-Con with 10 wins while holding a 2.54 ERA.

The Houston native was instrumental during Centenary’s series sweep of conference foe Valparaiso, improving the Ladies’ overall record to 14-14 and 4-0 in conference play.

The right-handed rookie tossed 18.2 innings while allowing just three earned runs. She struck out 16 and walked two as the Crusaders hit .288 against her.

In 19 appearances and 16 starts, Ivins (10-6) has struck out a team-high 98 batters and threw two complete game shutouts, blanking North Texas and Steven F. Austin.

The Ladies play at home again on Wednesday battling Texas Southern at the Centenary Softball Complex. The first pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 3 p.m.
