ELMHURST, Ill – Centenary shortstop David Kiefer has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week for the second time this year after dominating the opposition at the plate.  He led the Gents to a 3-2 record on the week, including a 3-1 conference mark.

Kiefer hit .632 in the five-game week, collecting 12 hits in 19 at-bats.  The senior from Albuquerque, New Mexico, drove in six runs and recorded a 1.053 slugging percentage.  He also averaged a .667 on base percentage, increasing his Mid-Con lead in the category to .534 on the year.

More impressively, Kiefer became just the sixth player in Centenary history to hit two triples in one game.  He nailed back-to-back shots in the first and second innings of the fourth game against Oakland, part of a 4-for-5 performance with two doubles, two triples, five RBI, and four runs scored.

This is the fifth Mid-Con award for the Gents and the second for Kiefer.  Jonathan Colgin won for February 21 while Kiefer was also named Mid-Con Player of the Week for March 7.  Pitchers J.C. Biagi and David McElroy were named Mid-Con Pitcher of the Week for March 7 and March 21 respectively.
