Ladies Finish Tied for 10th at Troy Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Ala – The Centenary women’s golf team cut 19 strokes off their first round score of 345 to finish tied for 10th at the Troy Women’s Invitational at the Lagoon Park Golf Club with a 671.

 

The Ladies’ Jessica Garza tied for the second best round of Tuesday with 76 to finish with 163 in a tie for 26th place.

 

Freshman Leigh Newton finished tied for 42nd after shooting identical 84s, her best team showing of the year.  Sophomore Chloe’ Mims and freshman Tracy Williams shot 170 over the tournament to tie for 49th.  Bethany Cox’s 177 was good enough for 56th place.

 

New Orleans took home the victory with a 617, followed closely behind by South Alabama (622) and Southern Miss (626). Belmont (640), host Troy (641), Louisiana-Monroe (644), and Samford (649) battled for the next tier, with Kennesaw State (654), Nicholls State (661), and Centenary and Lipscomb (each with 671) rounding out the competition.
