KANSAS CITY, Mo – The Centenary men’s soccer team was eliminated from Mid-Continent Conference postseason contention with a 4-1 loss at UMKC.  The Gents needed to win their last two games and have Oral Roberts lose their final pair to make the four team tournament.

The Kangaroos (3-10-3, 2-4-0 Mid-Con)  jumped to an early lead in the fourth minute as Robby Borchardt’s header found the bottom left corner of the net.  UMKC would add another goal to take a two goal lead in the 39th minute.

Centenary (3-13-0, 1-4-0 Mid-Con) would pull within one as senior J.J. Meyer scored in the 54th minute with assists from Brody Sager and Dustin Forward.

UMKC would pull away at the end of the match, scoring a pair of goals within five minutes of each other at the 81:16 and 85:37 marks.

Gents keeper Donnie Henderson, the NCAA leader in saves per game coming into the weekend, grabbed a game-high six saves.

Centenary will close out their 2005 season with a road game at Oral Roberts on Sunday.
