ROCHESTER, Mich.—The Centenary volleyball team wrapped up its 2005 season with a 3-0 loss to Oakland on Saturday. The Ladies bid farewell to seniors Tracee Byrd and Kelley Heckman in disappointing fashion as the maroon and white fell by the scores of 30-22, 30-20, and 30-24. Heckman, Centenary’s all-time leader in digs, turned in her finest individual match of the year with 19 digs in the loss.

Centenary (12-26, 1-13 Mid-Con) hit just .025 for the match but the true cause of the defeat was its serve receive passing. The Ladies allowed 14 aces by the Golden Grizzlies and could not consistently provide adequate passes in order to jump-start the offense.

Oakland (6-26, 5-9 Mid-Con) fed the combination of Heather Lippert and Adrienne Leone successfully as the pair combined for 31 kills. Lippert finished with a match-high 19 kills, while Leone notched a double double with 13 digs to go with her 12 spikes. Becca Moller added 33 assists in the victory for OU and Lauren Duquette collected 19 digs in the finale for the Golden Grizzlies.

Danielle Bochat led Centenary with eight kills while Byrd tallied seven kills in her final match. Ashlee Freeman recorded four total blocks to go with six kills in the loss for the Ladies.
