SHREVEPORT – The Centenary women’s basketball team will host cross-town LSU-Shreveport to a preseason exhibition game on Monday, November 14, at 7 p.m.  The Ladies will use the contest as the final warm-up for their 2005-06 season opener against New Orleans on Saturday.

The Ladies, coming off a disappointing 2004-05 campaign, return eight letterwinners, including four starters.  With a deeper rotation and more experience from a year ago, Centenary looks not only to qualify for the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament for the first time, but to make a splash and last deep in the pool.

LSUS comes to the Gold Dome with a 2-0 record under their belt.  The Lady Pilots, an NAIA program, are averaging 77 points a game and boast a 30 point scoring differential over their opponents.

With five active Centenary players currently in the all-time top-25 in career scoring, the Ladies should become a more dangerous offensive threat now they are more comfortable with the system of second-year head coach Elizabeth Wamsley.  Senior Van’esha Brabson, currently fifth all-time in scoring, needs just eight points to move into a tie for fourth place and can move into third with a solid season on the hardwood.

Monday’s action can be heard on-air on KOKA 980 AM in Shreveport, and online at  Play-by-play announcer Doug Greenwald is back for his sixth season as the voice for Ladies basketball.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
