SHREVEPORT The Centenary women’s basketball team looks to pick up their first win of the 2005-06 season as they host Sam Houston State on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Gold Dome.  The Ladies dropped their first pair of games this year against New Orleans and Arkansas-Little Rock.

Senior guard Laura Kizyte lead the Ladies (0-2, 0-0 Mid-Con) offensive attack at 15.5 points per game, followed by junior Holli Wilkins at 14.0 a contest.  Kizyte also paces the Maroon in White in rebounds with 4.5 a clip while Wilkins is averaging 5.0 steals a game.  Senior Lindsay Way’s 2.30 assist to turnover ratio tops the team.

The Bearkats are coming off an 83-33 loss to #18 Texas in Austin on Monday.

Sam Houston State (0-1, 0-0 SLC) edged Centenary last season in a hard fought 70-68 contest in Huntsville, Texas, last year.  The Ladies rallied from a nine-point second half deficit to tie the game with 40 seconds left before the Bearkats hit the final basket for the win.
