Centenary Winter Softball Camp Cancelled

SHREVEPORT—Centenary softball coach Mark Montgomery has announced the cancellation of the 2006 Winter Softball Camp scheduled for January 7th. Facility issues, including minor damage to the softball complex from the last storm to pass through Shreveport, are the main cause for the change of plans.

“We are very disappointed that we cannot offer our annual winter camp, but we will bounce back with our two summer camps and hopefully be able to be back on track with the winter camp next year,” said Montgomery.

The departure of camp director Alison McNulty, former Centenary softball assistant coach, combined with the damaged facilities made the likelihood of putting on a first class camp improbable. McNulty resigned in December to pursue her dream job in the front office of a minor league baseball organization.

Montgomery and his team will now turn their full attention on preparation for the upcoming season. The Ladies kick off their 2006 campaign with a scrimmage against Bossier Parish Community College on February 4th before opening regular season play on February 10th in the Auburn University Tiger Invitational.
