DENTON, Tex.—The Centenary gymnastics team took fourth place at Texas Woman’s University on Sunday afternoon in its first meet of the 2006 season. The Ladies posted a team score of 188.125 to finish behind LSU (194.050), Utah State (192.875), and the host TWU pioneers (190.475).

Senior Sarah Ball recorded Centenary’s best showing in the vault with a 9.650 and in the all-around with a combined total of 37.625. Junior Jesse Angus posted a 9.675 to lead the Ladies on the bars while fellow junior Kristina Menne was tops on the beam with a 9.625. Newcomer Diana Janda’s 9.700 on the floor exercise paced the Maroon and White while freshman Julia Cornelius was close behind with a 9.650.

The Ladies were without senior Sarah Racioppi on three events due to injury. Menne, a two-time NCAA Regional qualifier struggled a touch in her 2006 debut on the bars (8.300) and floor (9.250), traditionally two of her stronger events.

Centenary will return to action on January 20th at 7 pm in the Gold Dome when the Ladies host Missouri and Air Force.
