Emerald Doria

ELMHURST, Ill. – Centenary freshmen Emerald Doria and Ashley Lail were selected as the Mid-Continent Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, as they led the Ladies to a 2-2 record on the opening weekend.  The Ladies dropped their first two contests in the Auburn Tiger Invitational before winning the last two against Minnesota and the host #17 Tigers.  Both players were named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts.

Doria hit .385 for the week with a .789 slugging percentage and a .500 on base percentage.  She knocked in three RBI and scored four runs over the weekend, hitting a two-run homer in the 9-6 victory over #17 Auburn.

Lail picked up both of the wins for the Ladies, posting a 2.41 ERA while striking out 15 batters.  She tossed a complete game in the Ladies 4-2 victory over Minnesota and came in for the relief win against #17 Auburn.

The Ladies (2-2) return to Louisiana as they host Texas-Tyler for their home opener on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.  They then host the Centenary College Classic over the weekend, with Alabama-Birmingham, Alcorn State, Arkansas, and Nicholls State participating.
