INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – The Centenary men’s and women’s swimming teams combined to break 18 school records over the weekend at the 2005-06 Mid-Continent Conference Swimming & Diving Championships held at the IU Natatorium on the IUPUI campus.  Oakland swept the event, winning both the men’s and women’s title for the seventh consecutive year.  The Ladies and Gents each finished in fifth place overall.

Seven of the new records broken were relay events, as the Gents toppled old marks in the 200-free, 400-free, and 800-free relays.  Chase Lambert, Bryan Myers, Dustin Myers, and Adam D’Aquin set the new 200-free relay mark at 1:26.63 with a third place finish, while the same squad combined to finish third in the 400-free relay and set the new Centenary best at 3:10.78.  Lambert, D. Myers, D’Aquin, and Ross Gilbert teamed to crush the school record in the 800-free relay by over 28 seconds at 7:01.68 for yet another third place finish.

The Ladies set new relay records in the 200-free, 400-free, 800-free, and 400-medley relays.  Lori Von Pingel, Alana Gregory, Nicole Turner, and Leslie Clampitt posted a 1:40.88 in the 200-free relay for a new record while Clampitt, Gregory, Von Pingel, and Taryne Cantillo broke the 400-free relay in 3:39.02.  In the 800-free relay Cantillo, Von Pingel, Beth Geis, and Kayli Leblanc set the new mark at 8:06.13 while the 400-medley relay was broken by Cantillo, Betsy Smith, Sara Hansen, and Clampitt in 4:08.36.

Lambert set new solo marks in the 500-free at 4:42.48, finishing sixth in the final heat.  He also broke Centenary records in the 200 free (1:43.34) and the 200 butterfly (1:54.92), finishing third and fourth at the Championships in each respectively.

Kyle McKee, Bryan Myers, and Dustin Myers each broke individual records as well.  McKee set the new top time in the 200 breaststroke at 2:11.69, while B. Myers now holds the 50-free record at 21.49 and D. Myers the 100-free mark at 47.69.

Also being broken was the women’s 50-free, 100-free, 200-free, 200-butterfly, and 200-IM.  Clampitt bested her own school records in the 50-free (24.76) and 100-free (53.63), while Cantillo now owns Centenary’s best times in the 200-free (1:58.49), 200-fly (2:10.12), and 200-IM (2:11.79).
