Micah Rhodes

ELMHURST, Ill.—For the second consecutive week a position player and pitcher from the Centenary softball team have been named the Mid-Continent Conference Players of the Week by the league office. Junior Micah Rhodes was selected as the position Player of the Week for the Ladies while freshman Ashley Lail recorded her second straight Pitcher of the Week accolade.

Rhodes is the Player of the Week after leading Centenary to a 3-0 week, including a win over SEC foe Arkansas. The junior hit at a .625 clip, recorded a .727 on-base percentage and sported a 1.000 slugging percentage over the three games. She also scored four runs, collected three RBI, walked three times, swiped three bases and hammered her second home run of the season.

Lail is the Pitcher of the Week for the second-consecutive week after continuing her strong start to her rookie season. The freshman picked up a pair of wins for the Ladies over UT-Tyler and Arkansas, improving her record to 4-1. Against the Patriots, Lail allowed just two hits while striking out seven in six innings of work. She also held the Lady Razorbacks to three runs on five hits. For the week she was 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA and 12 strikeouts while allowing just seven hits.

Last week, freshman Emerald Doria joined Lail as the Mid-Con Players of the Week. Centenary has swept all four awards that have been handed out by the conference in the first two weeks of the 2006 season.
