TULSA, Okla – Down six at halftime, the Centenary women’s basketball team was outscored by Oral Roberts 40-19 in the second frame as they fell 70-43 in their final regular season game of the season.  The Ladies are on the outside looking in for the conference tournament, but are still alive pending Monday’s action.

Three Ladies scored in double figures, led by Jelena Aleksic with 12.  Laura Kizyte and Van’esha Brabson added 11 and 10 respectively, while Centenary’s leading scorer Holli Wilkins was held scoreless after playing limited minutes because of foul trouble.

Centenary (3-24, 2-14 Mid-Con) traded leads with the host Golden Eagles through the first 12 minutes, leading by as many as three with eight minutes to play in the opening half at 18-15.  ORU would close out the half on a 15-6 run to regain the lead for good going into the break at 30-24.

Oral Roberts (15-11, 9-6 Mid-Con) outshot the Ladies 46.3 to 36.7 percent from the floor, including hitting half of their 14 shots from downtown.

The Ladies turned the ball over 19 times compared to Oral Roberts’ eight, and were outrebounded 38-27.

A trio of Golden Eagles scored in double figures, led by Elisha Turek with a game-high 15 points and a game-best nine rebounds.  Leah Cannon added 12 points while Rachel Watman scored 10.

Despite the loss, Centenary can still make the Mid-Continent Conference postseason tournament through several scenarios.  Tonight’s contest between Southern Utah and IUPUI, and Monday’s action between Oakland and SUU, UMKC and Western Illinois, and Chicago State and IUPUI all have significant impact of the future of the Ladies 2005-06 season.
