Ladies Notch Highest Score of the Season Against LSU

SHREVEPORT—The Centenary gymnastics team tallied its highest point total of the season in hosting LSU in the Gold Dome on Sunday afternoon. The Ladies posted a score of 190.425 to mark the second time this year that the team cracked 190. The Tigers had no problem in eclipsing that mark as LSU finished with a score of 196.525.

 

Kelly Phelan won the all-around for the Tigers with a combined score of 39.250, which included a first place effort of 9.925 on the floor exercise. She also placed second on the vault and third on the uneven bars. April Burkholder, Emily Ellis, and Nicki Butler all scored a 9.825 on the vault for LSU to tie for the top spot while Lisa Rennie posted a 9.825 and a 9.900 on the bars and beam respectively to rank first.

 

Meredith Smith and Kristina Menne claimed Centenary’s best finishes on the day. Smith garnered third place after a score of 9.750 on the vault while Menne placed third in the all-around with a total of 38.600. The Ladies best team score came on the beam where Julia Cornelius, Sarah Ball, Diana Janda, and Menne all posted scores of 9.600 or higher.

 

Centenary will next travel to face Missouri on Friday, March 3rd at 7 p.m.
