SHREVEPORT—First-year head Centenary basketball coach Rob Flaska released his 2005-06 schedule today which is highlighted by a home game against ACC powerhouse Georgia Tech. The Gents will host the Yellow Jackets on January 10, 2006 in the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, La. The University of Houston and coach Tom Penders will also make a trip to Shreveport to play the Gents in the Gold Dome on January 3rd.

The Centenary-Georgia Tech contest in January will be the first of a three-game series between the two teams as the Gents will travel to Atlanta in each of the next two seasons. Houston and Centenary will be concluding their three-game agreement with their meeting this season. The teams split the first two games played in Houston over the last two years with the Gents pulling off the 63-57 win on January 19, 2004.

“We wanted to upgrade our home schedule and getting Georgia Tech and Houston, along with a Northwestern State team that probably will be picked to win the Southland, does that,” said Flaska. “This is going to be a tough schedule, and I like to win. But being the only D-I school in Shreveport, I felt that we needed to give the community a quality schedule.”

Centenary will open the 2005-06 campaign with home action against the University of Texas-Tyler on November 18th. Northwestern State (Nov. 29) and Birmingham-Southern (Dec. 17) will also take their shot at the Gents on their home court inside the Gold Dome.

Notable road games slated for the upcoming season include trips to SMU, Ole Miss, and Alabama-Birmingham. The Gents will also travel to face Birmingham-Southern, Stephen F. Austin, and Nicholls State as part of their non-conference schedule.

The Mid-Continent Conference portion of the schedule opens with a December 29th home game against Valparaiso. 2004-05 regular season champs Oral Roberts will visit the Gents on the final day of the regular season on February 23rd.
