Joey Tolis

SHREVEPORT—Former Centenary men’s assistant basketball coach Joey Tolis has rejoined the Gents staff in a part-time role. Head Coach Rob Flaska has announced that Tolis will serve as the third assistant for the 2005-06 season. Tolis will be involved in all phases of the men’s basketball program inlcuding off-campus recruiting and on-floor coaching duties.

“We are really happy to have Joey as part of the staff,” said Flaska. “He brings a wealth of experience in college coaching, numerous connections in the Shreveport-Bossier community, and is a graduate of Centenary that is familiar with the program.”

Tolis spent two seasons as the third assistant coach under former Centenary basketball coach Kevin Johnson from 1999 through 2001. Since then he has spent time as an assistant coach to Chad McDowell at both Southwood High School and LSU-Shreveport. Other coaching stints include Angelina Junior College and Tarleton State University where he was a student assistant coach.

“I am extremely excited to be back at Centenary as a part of Coach Flaska’s staff,” said Tolis. “I am looking forward to working hard for a program that I can already tell has been rejuvenated by Coach Flaska’s arrival.”
