MEMPHIS, Tenn – The Centenary men’s soccer team dropped their second match of the season 1-0 to Belmont in the seventh-annual Memphis Diadora Tournament.  The Gents were outshot 22-7 by the Bruins, but didn’t let the score get out of hand despite playing a man down for the final 22 minutes of play.

After a scoreless first half, Belmont (1-1) jumped on the board with an early second half goal in the 50th minute.  The Bruins would fire 16 shots in the half on Gents keeper Donnie Henderson, who finished the match with nine saves, all in the second frame.

Senior forward J.J. Meyer was signaled with his second yellow card of the match at the 67:50 mark, disqualifying him for the remainder of the game.  The match was an aggressive one, as 38 total fouls were whistled, 23 on Belmont.

Aaron Volanksi continued to pace the Gents (0-2) offense from the midfield, firing a team-high two shots on goal.

The Gents continue on their trio of road tournaments to start off the 2005 season as they travel to Springfield, Mo., to take on Southeast Missouri and Bradley on Friday and Saturday respectively.
