MEMPHIS, Tenn – Sophomores Donnie Henderson and Aaron Volanksi were named to the seventh-annual Memphis Diadora All-Tournament team to represent Centenary men’s soccer.  The Gents dropped both of their contests, 4-0 to #24 Memphis and 1-0 to Belmont.

Henderson collected a tournament-high 18 saves, nine in both matches, to create a formidable presence between the pipes.  Head coach Eric Mayo was nothing short of impressed by the redshirt sophomore’s play.

“Donnie played fantastic,” Mayo said, “and solidified his starting role in goal.  As long as he keeps on his game, he’ll keep us close and competitive in games.”

Volanski, a sophomore transfer from Memphis, continued his quality play from the midfield.  He has proven to be the type of player and leader Mayo believed he would be coming into the season.

“AV works hard in the midfield,” said Mayo, “and is creating a lot of chances for us.  If we can just find more ways to get people involved in front of the goal, good things are going to happen.”

The Gents travel to Springfield, Mo., this weekend to take on Missouri State and Bradley in the Missouri State Tournament.
