Lail Earns Third Weekly Mid-Con Pitching Award

ELMHURST, Ill.—Centenary pitcher Ashley Lail was selected as the Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season in a release by the league office on Monday. The freshman improved to 8-3 with a 3-2 week and tossed complete games in all five of her starts.


Lail earned wins over Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, and Northwestern State before losing to Jacksonville State and Arkansas. Her best outings were against Texas Southern (7 IP, 1 hit, 0 R, 5 strikeouts) and SEC foe Arkansas (7 IP, 2 hits, 1 R, 6 strikeouts). For the week, Lail posted a 1.03 ERA in 34 innings, allowed 22 hits, struck out 28 and allowed just five earned runs.


The freshman from Fort Worth, Texas, currently leads the Mid-Con in wins (8), strikeouts (61), complete games (8), starts (10), appearances (12), and innings pitched (71.1).
