NORMAN, Okla. – The 23rd ranked Oklahoma baseball team shutout visiting Centenary 12-0 in the second game of a three game series Saturday afternoon.  The Sooners assaulted the Gents with a barrage of 18 hits, scoring in very inning except for two.

 

Alex Maldonado and Tim Ryan each collected a pair of hits for the Gents, but couldn’t capitalize on eight team base-knocks.  Centenary (7-10) stranded nine runners on the day.

 

Oklahoma (15-4) again jumped on the board early, scoring seven runs against Gents starter Matt Clark (0-3) in just two and a third innings of work.  Senior Kris Calhoun took over in the third, tossing four and two thirds innings while striking out four and giving up four runs on eight hits.

 

Seven Sooners recorded multiple hits, led by shortstop Freddy Rodriguez with three.  Rodriguez also knocked in a pair of runs and scored once.

 

Steven Guerra (6-0) picked up the win for the Sooners after tossing six innings of scoreless ball, striking out three.

 

Centenary and Oklahoma finish the series with a final game on Sunday at 1 p.m.  The Gents then return to Shehee Stadium as they host Alcorn State for a three-game series starting next Friday.
