SHREVEPORT—The Centenary men’s tennis team garnered its first win of the spring with a 5-2 victory at home over Grambling on Saturday. The Gents swept the Tigers to grab the doubles point and then won four singles matches to close the door.

Josh Pinto and Russ Patrick defeated GSU’s #1 doubles team 8-6 and Dylan Dyer and Arthur Okura repeated the feat with an identical score over the Tiger’s #2 combo. Matt Shoptaugh and Seva Kostelanetz completed the sweep with a dominant 8-0 performance in the third doubles slot.

Grambling’s Jamon Clayton and Dellon Lorimer, playing in the #1 and #2 positions on the singles side, defeated Centenary’s counterparts of Pinto (6-4, 7-6 (6)) and Dyer (7-5, 6-2). However, three through six belonged to the Gents as Patrick (6-0, 6-0), Okura (6-4, 6-4), Shoptaugh (6-4, 6-4), and Kostelanetz (7-5, 6-3) fell in line to secure the win.

Centenary will next travel to Alcorn State on March 20, to face the Braves at 2 p.m.
