SHREVEPORT—The Centenary women’s tennis team fell 7-0 to McNeese State at the Centenary Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon. The Ladies battled hard and Heather Kelley almost pulled out a win playing in the top singles slot.

The Ladies dropped to 0-5 on the season with the loss to the Cowgirls. Kelley and Christine Majchrowicz fell 8-2 in doubles play before Kristina Collins and Courtney Myers went down 8-0 in the second doubles position. Jennifer Majchrowicz and Lindsay Ezell also dropped their double match by the score of 8-1.

On the singles side, Kelley held a 4-1 lead in the second set while playing some of her best tennis of the year. At that point her opponent, Noelia Furno, called for a three-minute bathroom timeout but returned to the court over 10 minutes later. A discussion then took place, but the official did not punish the McNeese player. Furno then rallied to take the match 6-2, 6-4 after regrouping.

Christine Majchrowicz fought to a 6-0, 6-3 loss in the #2 position and Lindsay Ezell came up a little short with a 6-2, 6-2 decision in the sixth slot. Jennifer Majchrowicz dropped her match 6-1, 6-1 playing in the #5 singles and both Collins and Myers were beaten by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores, playing #3 and #4 respectively.

The Ladies return to action tomorrow when they travel to Monroe, La., to take on the University of Louisiana-Monroe at 2 p.m.
