SHREVEPORT— Centenary Athletics Director Taylor Moore announced on Monday that head women’s basketball coach Elizabeth Wamsley resigned from her position effective immediately. Current assistant coach Jason Keene has been named the interim head coach until a search to fill the vacated post can be completed.

“We certainly appreciate the time and effort Coach Wamsley has put into our women’s basketball program over the last three years as both an assistant and a head coach,” said Moore. “I know she is as frustrated that the program has been unable to reach the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament as we are. We thank her for her hard work and wish her the best.”

Moore expects his search for Wamsley’s replacement to move quickly as to not lose any time in the recruiting process.

Wamsley was 4-49 in her two seasons as head coach of the Ladies basketball team. Her teams finished ninth in the Mid-Con in both campaigns, but did produce conference Newcomer of the Year Laura Kizyte in 2004-05. This season Centenary had a chance to earn a berth in the Mid-Con Tournament until Southern Utah moved ahead of the Ladies in the final week of the regular season.
