BOSSIER CITY, La.- Birmingham-Southern leads the annual Hal Sutton Intercollegiate after the two-round first day of action at the Golf Club at Stonebridge.  The Panthers shot rounds of 289 and 284 to take a seven-stroke lead going into the last round.

 

Kenji Murayama of New Orleans holds the individual lead six under at 138 with rounds of 67 and 71.  Following closely and under-par are BSC’s Tommy Jensen and Austin Frye at –4 with 140, Michael Smith of Louisiana-Lafayette, Brian Ward of Northeastern State, and Brandon Eaton of McNeese State are all at –2 and 142.  Andrew Carr of Birmingham-Southern’s B-team is –1 at 143 while Louisiana Tech’s Amrith de Soysa is even par at 144.

 

Junior David Viviano paced the host Gents with 157 after the first day, shooting rounds of 75 and 82 to tie for 51st.  John Hogan cut five strokes off his first round of 83 for a 78, finishing the day in a tie for 60th at 161.

 

Matt Williams and Mike Lowbardino finished the day a stroke off each other, with Williams shooting an 89 and 84 to place 67th with 173 while Lowbardino’s 91 and 83 put him in 68th at 174.  Zach Bruhnke couldn’t match his first round 86 as he added a 99 to wind up in 70th with 185.
